Toppers11 is the only platform built exclusively for Income Tax Departmental Promotion Exams. Unlike general exam platforms:
- Our question bank covers the specific CBDT chapter-wise weightage (not general finance/accounts)
- We include previous-year departmental exam questions (2009–2024)
- Our test interface replicates the official Online Mode exam UI
- 1/8th negative marking is implemented exactly as per the actual exam
- Allied Laws coverage is specific to the Income Tax context (Transfer of Property, RTI, etc.)
- Office Procedure tests cover actual Service Rules (FR, SR, CCS rules) used in the department
As per CBDT Notification II dated 14.05.2025, the ITO/ITI Departmental Examination 2025 is scheduled as follows:
- Paper 1 (IT Law & Computation): Monday, 08.09.2025
- Paper 2 (Adv. Accountancy / Book Keeping): Tuesday, 09.09.2025

- Paper 4 (Combined Practical / Office Procedure): Thursday, 11.09.2025
Application window: 23 May 2025 to 23 June 2025 at www.incometaxindia.gov.in.
The Departmental Examination 2025 for ITO and ITI is held in Online Mode (Computer-Based Test), as per the Amended Departmental Examination Rules 2009 (effective from 2023 examination onwards). The only exception is:
- ITO Paper 4 (Income Tax & Accountancy — Combined Practical) — This is conducted in Offline/Subjective mode, with answers written in a physical booklet provided by the department. Books allowed: IT Act & Rules, CBDT Publications, Ready Reckoner.
- MS Paper 2 (Office Procedure) — Also conducted with books allowed.
For all objective papers: 1/8th mark (0.125) is deducted for every incorrect answer. This applies to ITI, ITO and MS objective papers.
Skipped questions carry zero marks — no deduction.
Toppers11 implements this exact scheme in all our mock tests so you get accurate score predictions.
